Seppuku is a Japanese term indicating a ritual in ancient Japan for compulsory or voluntary suicide, an exclusive privilege of the samurai caste. It was the way in which the samurai avoided capital punishment, expressed grief for the death of his lord or protested an injustice suffered.
This ritual was the maximum form of respect for the end of a Samurai if it was not possible to complete the ambition of dying on the battlefield serving one's ideal.
Performing Seppuku is the last sacrifice of the true Samurai who, regardless of death, proves his worth and his righteousness to himself and everyone else until the end.
